A framework for testing large-scale distributed soil erosion and sediment delivery models: Dealing with uncertainty in models and the observational data

Evaluating distributed soil erosion models is challenging because of the uncertainty in and measurements system responses. Here, we present an approach to evaluate sediment delivery models, which incorporates source fingerprinting sediment-rating curve into model testing. We applied Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation (GLUE) methodology Sediment Delivery Distributed (SEDD) for a large catchment Southeast Brazil. The was not rejected, as 23.4% realizations were considered behavioral. Fingerprinting results SEDD simulations showed partial agreement regarding identification main sources catchment. However, grid-based estimates rates highly uncertain, restricted model's usefulness quantifying dynamics. Although our are case-specific, similar levels error might be expected elsewhere. representation such errors should standard practice.
